Best Convertible Car Seat

At GreenPea Baby we take product selection very seriously and do a lot of research and mom testing before we choose a product.  For convertible car seats, it really came down to choosing between Recaro and Britax.  Both are great companies and offer a great product but part of our Baby Simplified™ mission is to do the research and narrow down the choices for you.  We chose to go with Recaro and here is why:

• Recaro has been in the automotive industry for over 100 years.  Pioneers in seat technology and earning their reputation by bringing ground breaking seating safety technologies to consumers over the past 4 decades.  Some of these include:  side impact protection, integrated seat belts and head support.
• Recaro car seats are designed to provide optimum comfort and safety.
• As no other company can, Recaro draws inspiration for their car seats from their proven safety technology that is used for race car seats.
• The five-point harness is important for full body protection so Recaro equipped their car seats with a 5-Point harness system for a child up to 70lbs in the ProRIDE and 90lbs in the ProSport.  The highest available in a convertible or car seat sold today.
  
• Recaro introduced side impact protection in race car seats in 1996 and then added this technology to their car seats in 1998.
• Just because a car seat says it is "side impact tested" does not mean a lot.  Parents should look at what tests were performed and what the results were.  Although all car seats sold in the U.S., must pass the minimum crash standards set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA), there is currently no U.S. side impact testing standard requirement.  Car seats such as Recaro, not only exceed the U.S. crash standards but voluntarily submit their car seats for further side impact testing to an independent, globally respected crash test organization called ADAC.
