Prefold, Contour & Fitted Diapers

A fitted diaper is a cloth diaper that is tailored to fit your baby by the addition of elastic in the legs and snaps or velcro closures. It does not require folding and comes in sized and one-size styles. It is not waterproof so you will need a waterproof cover. Very absorbent and makes a great nighttime solution.

A prefold diaper is a rectangular sewn fabric that typically has three panels of absorbency. You may hear things like 4 X 8 X 4 or 4 X 6 X 4. This is referring to the number of layers of fabric within each panel. Look for diapers that have 4 X 8 X 4 for the best absorbency. They can be folded in many different ways to accommodate for different needs. They can be made from cotton, hemp or a mixture. They are very affordable and versatile.

A contoured diaper is just that--contoured. It will have an hourglass shape and may require folding. Some styles will be gathered at the legs or waist but most are not. You will need to secure the diaper with Snappies or with a snug fitting diaper cover.
