When it comes to the safety and wellbeing of children, parents will do just about anything in order to ensure their child’s safety. Before the baby even comes into this world, parents do hours and hours of research on the best products and try their best to get those products for their child. Well one Chicago Mom wishes that there was one more thing she could have done to save the life of her son, Danny Keysar.
Danny was 16 months old in 1998 when he was taking a nap in a portable, foldable crib. During his nap, the crib had collapsed and Danny was trapped around his neck and not able to breathe. Even though he was taken to a hospital, there was nothing that the doctors could do. Danny’s death is an extremely sad incident and I am sure every parent is scared of this happening to their child. Well now there is that extra step you can take to make sure your child is safe more than ever before. The 2008 Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act is an important act that all parents should be aware of and take part in. This act requires many durable and toddler products (cribs, play yards, gates, infant carriers, walkers, swings, cradles, bouncers, bathtubs, infant slings, strollers and high chairs) to include a product registration card. How is a product registration card helpful? Well, by filling out the product registration card, a manufacturer can reach consumers in the event of a recall or other safety issues of that product. This way, you will always be informed about the product that you are using for your baby and can make sure that your baby is always safe. We all know that parents can be busy so to make it easy on the parents, the registration card comes with pre-paid postage, you only need to provide your contact information and the name and model of the product, there’s an online option available to fill out the registration card and last but not least, your information is confidential and will not be given out to anywhere. I know there are a million things to do in a day but please make sure to take that one extra last step to ensure your child’s safety. Every time you see a product registration card for your child’s product, think of Danny Keysar and fill it out. For more information about Danny’s Law, you can go to http://kidsdanger.org. |
