If you consider yourself a "trendy" gal, you know
that you want your nursery to be a reflection of that style. Stay on top

Gray or Slate is the new brown. We are seeing it combined with green,
yellow, lavender, blue, teal and orange. But not only are we seeing it on
fabrics, but in furniture finishes too. The trend seems to be moving away
from Espresso (although still a popular choice) toward lighter furniture
finishes. Chevron prints have moved into the baby world and are now one
of our most popular fabric choices. Say goodbye to delicate florals and
hello to large geometric and large scale prints in vibrant colors.
Neutrals, organics and clean sophisticated lines will continue to be hot.
With bumpers becoming such a controversial item in 2012, manufacturers began
creating new items to fill the style void. Bumperless crib sheets are the
newest craze. These are crib sheets that feature a main fabric on the
outer edges, cording or a ruffle on the edge and another fabric on the
top. They provide the look of a bumper without the bumper. Fabric
crib rails are another hot selling item that not only provides style but
function too. A decorative fabric wraps around the rails of the crib
providing protection from a little beaver.
Even though the economy is performing better, parents today are much more
budget-conscious. One of the most common comments that we hear is
"why should I spend that much on bedding and furniture that my child will
outgrow in a couple of years?" With the trend away from the typical
baby-themed fabrics to more sophisticated choices, parents today can easily
create a room that will grow with their child. In fact, we suggest that
parent's design their room with that thought in mind. We look for
coordinating fabrics for window treatments that will easily work with big kid
bedding down the road. Many of our parents that create custom crib
bedding will also go ahead and purchase a duvet cover in the same fabrics for
when they convert their crib to a bed. So instead of just designing a
nursery, they are actually designing a room that will grow and evolve with
their child. By utilizing furniture that converts and fabric choices that
will easily transition, parents can actually save money and time by avoiding
the need to redecorate later.
The majority of customers purchase a convertible crib, a double dresser, crib
rails to convert the bed to a full-size bed, a glider and a mattress. One
of our most frequent follow-up sales is for nightstands. We always
suggest this item to our customers because they will use it beside their glider
in the nursery and beside the bed once they convert their crib to a full-size
bed. If they don't purchase it when they are buying their nursery
furniture, they risk the style or finish not being available down the
road. We are seeing a trend towards modern, clean lines and the low
profile cribs have gained in popularity since the ban of drop-side cribs.
Convertible cribs remain our top seller.
